Today, we worked on our campaign diary thats due on Friday. We also updated our website and planned for going to Balbriggan Educate Together on Wednesday to trial more of our lesson plans.
Today we had our bake sale in the hall to raise money for our project. We all cooked different types of delicious treats such as brownies, muffins and rice crispy buns. It was a success and we raised forty six euro. This money will go into helping us develop our one good idea in the future and to spread the word of our idea.
Today was our first ever visit to Primary Schools. It was a great success and the students loved our lesson - especially the panda and polar bear puppets. Our lesson included; Gráinne Green News, Word searches and Art. For more information, look at our Teachers Corner by clicking here.
Today we edited and filmed Gráinne Green's News. We made a lesson plan, word search and power point about food miles. We also prepared for our visit to St. Georges National School, Balbriggan.
Today we visited St. Georges primary school to talk to the principle Pauline O' Shea and first class teacher Ms.Kay. We explained to them exactly what we planned to teach to the first class students on Wednesday. We gave them a Tree of A Kind learning pack which contained lesson plans, permission slips( for the children), a CD with the power points and some of the word-searches. Pauline and Ms.Kay seemed very interested in our project and said they were impressed with all our hard work. We also got to meet the class we will be teaching.
Today we filmed another Gráinne Green video about air pollution. It was great fun and we got to use a wide range of props!
Today we made a plan for exactly what we are going to teach when we go to St Georges on Tuesday the 12th of March. We decided we would visit the principle of St. Georges on the Monday before we visit the 1st class and discuss what exactly we were going to teach to the pupils. We decided we shall start with a short introduction on climate change and then teach the children all about endangered animals and how climate change is effecting them!
